Breathe

It's about becoming who you are.

And it starts here, with the most fundamental thing your body does — and the one most of us have never truly learned to do well.

Have you ever woken up feeling slightly discombobulated and had no idea why?

That feeling of being wired, or completely drained, or just out of sorts — with no obvious reason for it. That's your energy, fluctuating. Responding to your thoughts, your feelings, and the cumulative effect of everything that is happening in your life. And it shows up in the body before the mind has even caught up.

Breathe is where we begin. Not because it's the easiest thing, but because without it, nothing else can quite land the way it should. It is the foundation — the daily practice that creates the inner calm from which everything else becomes possible.

Why Breathing Needs to Be Learned

You've been breathing your whole life. So why would you need help with it?

Because when you're wired, stressed or bracing for the next difficulty, the way you breathe changes — and not for the better. The breath becomes shallower. The diaphragm stops fully engaging. The body holds itself tightly, and your oxygen levels drop. It no longer reaches every part of you in the way it should.

Most of us are doing this, most of the time, without realising it. Breathing automatically is not the same as breathing well. Conscious breathing — deliberate, full, diaphragmatic — does something that automatic breathing simply doesn't. It signals safety to the nervous system. It brings the body out of bracing and into settling. And when the body settles, the mind begins to follow.

Who This Is For

If you are new to breathing practices, meditation, relaxation, yoga or any conscious mind-body work, this is exactly where we'd begin.

If you are the kind of person who is forever bracing for the next catastrophe — living on high alert, waiting for the next thing to go wrong — this has a long-term impact on your body that most people don't connect to their breathing until someone points it out. A body in constant bracing is a body under constant strain.

When you begin to breathe well and regularly, something shifts. The body starts to settle. The mind slows down. Decisions begin to come from a different, calmer place — not from the noise of anxiety or overwhelm, but from genuine clarity.

That is what a consistent breathing practice does. Not in theory. In practice, in your body, every day.

Try This Right Now

Before you read another word, try this.

Breathe in through your nose — but this time, don't let the breath rise into your chest. Instead, direct it lower. Feel your belly gently rise as you breathe in. Then exhale slowly and deliberately through your mouth, long and controlled, and feel your belly fall as the breath leaves you. A soft, visible rise and fall, like a tide.

That's a belly breath. That's your diaphragm doing what it was designed to do.

Most people, when they try this for the first time, realise immediately that they have never breathed this way before — or not for a very long time. That realisation alone is the beginning.

Why a Session With Helen Is Different From an App

We've all tried the YouTube video. Five minutes in, you're already thinking about making a cup of tea.

The difference between a guided session and a downloaded app isn't the content — it's the buy-in. Breathing takes a certain kind of discipline, a real understanding of why it matters and what it does, that you simply don't get from pressing play on someone else's recording. A session with Helen gives you the basics, properly instilled. The practice, genuinely learned. The understanding of why it works, and what difference it will make when you do it consistently.

One session is all it takes to begin. You can return for a top-up or a reminder whenever it feels right, or come back regularly — that choice is always yours. Helen's purpose is simply to show you what is possible, why it matters, and then set you free with a practice that belongs entirely to you.

A Daily Essential — Not an Optional Extra

Think about the things on your morning list that you would never skip. The ones that make you feel human before the day begins.

Breathe belongs on that list. Not as a luxury, not as something to get to when life quietens down — because life rarely quietens down on its own. As an essential. A non-negotiable few minutes that keep you grounded, present and able to meet whatever the day brings from a place of calm rather than chaos.

Once you begin a regular practice, you will be astounded at how much more grounded you become. It is only from that grounded place — having listened to your body, having created a calm environment within — that you become fully ready for what comes next.

Breathe is the first step of the Back to Being You journey, leading into Release and from there into Being You. Each stage builds on the last. This is where it begins.

Add It to Your Essentials List — Starting Today

A simple breathing practice, every day — or as many times as you need it to feel and remain grounded — is one of the most powerful investments you will ever make in yourself.

Not one day. Today.
